5+ NPA Active Manuka Honey
Our active manuka honey is collected by our bees from the many stands of native bush in the beautiful Far North. The activity of active manuka honey – the unique manuka factor (UMF or NPA ratings) – relates to how strong its antimicrobial activity is. The higher ratings are what make it so popular in hospitals against certain strains of bacteria.
Active manuka honey is believed to be beneficial for digestive upsets and to help increase the growth of good bacteria in the gut (probiotics). It is also amazing for sore throats during the winter time and incredible on wounds, as a face mask or as a deliciously healthy sweetener.
Manuka honey is a natural antimicrobial known to stimulate wound healing and promote healthy skin. All honey is rich in vitamins, enzymes, pollen, minerals and amino acids, all of which are deeply nourishing to the skin. It also contains acids that help to clear dead skin cells and thus can be very beneficial for acne.Used in its raw form it is wonderful as a gentle and nourishing face mask or scrub.
Honey has been used in beauty regimes since the time of Cleopatra (milk and honey baths) and is only increasing in popularity, especially the world famous manuka honey. Chinese women are said to have had a tradition of using a blend of honey and ground orange seeds to keep their skin blemish-free.
Honey also contains powerful antioxidants that fight free radicals and can reverse cell degeneration. As well as revitalising and restoring skin by gently stimulating cell renewal, honey is deeply hydrating, anti-inflammatory and also cleansing.
