Skin Care Ingredients
Below is a list of the ingredients we use, and some of their wonderful properties. Inline with our philosophies, our products are made with natural ingredients, using certified organic where possible.
Beeswax – contains vitamin A, necessary for normal cell development. Its anti-oxidant properties clear dead skin cells to promote healthy, soft skin, enhancing its elasticity. It also provides an amazing long-lasting protective barrier against environmental elements. *Certified organic
Manuka honey (an activity of NPA 5+ or higher used in our products) – our active manuka honey is collected by our bees from the many stands of native bush in the beautiful Far North. Manuka honey is a natural antimicrobial known to stimulate wound healing and promote healthy skin. All honey is rich in vitamins, enzymes, pollen, minerals and amino acids, all of which are deeply nourishing to the skin. It also contains acids that help to clear dead skin cells and thus can be very beneficial for acne. Used in its raw form it is wonderful as a gentle and nourishing face mask or scrub.
The activity of manuka honey – the unique manuka factor (UMF or NPA ratings) – relates to how strong its antimicrobial activity is. The higher ratings are what make it so popular in hospitals against certain strains of bacteria.
Honey has been used in beauty regimes since the time of Cleopatra (milk and honey baths) and is only increasing in popularity, especially the world famous manuka honey. Chinese women are said to have had a tradition of using a blend of honey and ground orange seeds to keep their skin blemish-free.
Honey also contains powerful antioxidants that fight free radicals and can reverse cell degeneration. As well as revitalising and restoring skin by gently stimulating cell renewal, honey is deeply hydrating, anti-inflammatory and also cleansing.
